All adults wishing to become eligible for their next brown/black belt/dan grades need to do the following.
1. Know the syllabus they need inside out and sideways. (Knowledge)
2. Be able to demonstrate all of the technical content to a high level of competency (Skills)
3. Make sure that they turn up for the advanced class (that is (as the name suggests) where you will learn advanced stuff)
Make sure they are seen by the advanced ranks to be not only improving their own knowledge and skill base but to be actively supporting the ryu/kai in any and every way they can. (Attitude)
If you do not show the above qualities then you will not be entitled to go for any rank advancement. Apart from that. I can say that the grading examinations will be both physically demanding and mentally challenging so I would advise everyone to prepare themselves properly and turn up on the day ready to work hard.
