Stephen Peil kyoshi becomes Head of the SKBR!

Introducing Stephen Peil kyoshi. The new head of the SKBR.
SteveKyosh
Stephen takes over the reins from Dave Baker kyoshi, who, as a Health and Safery/Compliance officer, has found his specialist skills in urgent need in these difficult and dangerous times. Consequently, Baker kyoshi has had to stand down from his position and has recommended Peil kyoshi to take over and lead the SKBR.
Peil kyoshi has a lifetime martial arts behind him and, in addition, is a veteran prison officer, so having excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
Therefore he is particularly well suited to such an important position and we all both congratulate him and wish him well in leading the SKBR forward into an even more successful future!

New UK Honbu Dojo opens!

The new honbu dojo has now opened in Bolton. Yamabush dojo Fenikkusu is situated at the historic Bolton Olympic Wrestling Club (over a century old!) and is a fully matted and fully equipped dojo which also comes with the use of a Gym and Sauna! There is a large canteen and various nearby parking facilities, all of which makes this a perfect venue for courses and master classes.

This is a traditional dojo belonging to a traditional school (yamabushi ryu) with traditional values. It has very firm and substantial links to Japan with the kaicho being a member of the Nippon Budo Gakkai (Japanese Academy of Budo, Tokyo Japan) and senior instructors being members of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai  (the oldest martial arts organisation in Japan).

Our attitude towards our training reflects this: We make the effort, and we expect our students to make the effort. This dojo is also closely associated with the Institute of Martial Arts and Sciences, an international professional body for martial artists, dedicated to education and research. This body offers professional memberships, academic teaching qualifications and even access to advanced qualifications and entry to university degree studies. All students of the this dojo automatically become associate members of this prestigious body from belonging to the yamabushi ryu, and will be encouraged and supported in continuing with their personal education and development.

All of the above remains reliant upon the students remaining members of this dojo in good standing. That meaning:

-All membership must remain up to date and all training fees paid promptly.

-The students must train regularly and with good spirit.

-They must support the dojo further by attending any events that might be organised (courses, conferences, etc.)

-They must, at all times, strive to reflect the values of the yamabushi life way and never bring any shame upon the school or tarnish its good name in any way whatsoever.

Etiquette and good manners are extremely important in this dojo. The chain of command will always be acknowledged, and rank and title must always be observed.

There is a special way of behaving in the dojo, and this is important because it is part of our discipline and helps ensure everyones health and safety. It is also hoped that this disciplined behaviour and good conduct eventually becomes a part of the individuals daily life as a being a yamabushi is not just something a person does, it is something a person becomes.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to including people of all races, genders, religions, sexual orientations ages, and physical or intellectual abilities.

We welcome and celebrate the different cultures and communities represented by our membership.

We understand that many minority groups have been excluded from accessing and succeeding in many areas of society and we will make every effort improve the diversity in our association. The martial arts offers activity for people of all ages and abilities and no one should be excluded from succeeding.

We accept that currently martial arts participation with our school is not fully representative of the communities in which we train and will actively recruit women and people from minority groups in order to redress this imbalance.

We welcome you to participate in the organisation and training in all of our clubs sharing our commitment to diversity.

If members or instructors behave in any way to exclude or discriminate against people because of physical or mental ability, race, sexual orientation, age, gender, trans status or religion/belief in any class context or in public, including online, your behaviour will not be welcome and your will be asked to leave.

We all need to improve our understanding of diversity and inclusion and you are welcome to ask for support in improving your education and understanding of issues facing minority groups.

We will review the diversity and inclusion in our clubs annually.

We will review this statement annually or more regularly if necessary

Become an affiliated instructor.

The yamabushi ryu is always happy to welcome like minded instructors into our dojo. However our school has a wide and varied syllabus, and training can be quite arduous and demanding so any instructor who wishes to become a part of our tradition will first need to be technically competent and physically fit. They would also be expected to commit to, and undergo, extensive specialist training in the various aspects of our syllabus.

Not all applications are accepted but, if yours is, then you will have the opportunity of training with us and proving both to yourself and to us that you are worthy to become a warrior of the sacred mountain!

If you think you have what it takes to become one of us and are truly sincere in your desire to learn more, then take the initiative and contact us now.

IMPORTANT! Urgent assistance required!

The Egyptian Traditional Karate Federation is in serious jeopardy of being shut down due to Government red-tape. We need to STOP this from happening and we need your help to do this. We need to raise awareness of this pressing issue and gather as much support as we can as fast as we possibly can. We need ideas/help/assistance/guidance on getting a petition going and writing to the ministers responsible to urge them to reconsider. This needs to be done NOW! Lets get the momentum going and help our brothers and sisters in Egypt before it is too late! Get a discussion going on here and we can move forward from there. Together we are stronger. We must stand together and show our support and solidarity concerning this matter!
